Well... I guess you get props for not hiding the fact that this is a self-insert story... Honestly, that's probably most of why you're getting all these negative ratings. You're probably not gonna be getting many positive responses to that kind of thing here, unfortunately. Keep going at it though, and next time you might want to consider other characters. Remember that furry never had that wave of bad self-inserts anime fandom got in the 90s, where the writer got to outdo the canon characters while scoring his anime babe girlfriend of choice. Speaking as someone who was around at the time, many of those fics were _really_ bad and were blatant bits of self-gratification.
There were a few exceptions, generally from simply being a fun read, (even if not objectively good). The one big exception is the story that most of those self-inserts were aping, but it was never really intended for release and wasn't written to make the writer into a 'kool hero'. Instead it was intended as an exercise to make sure the writer had a couple characters right before doing the real Dirty Pair fanfic he wanted to do¹, ("I'll have them show up at my college, I know the people around here better than any character from fiction").
Instead, furry has a long standing tradition of writing stories and doing art of your personal character. The difference is probably from furry never really having a "media teat" to grab loads of settings and characters from. Furry also has a long standing tradition of doing online stuff in character, partly due to things like FurryMUCK, (think a text-only cross between a MMORPG and a chat room).

1: He never got around to it, something to do with an unexpectedly positive reaction and people asking for the next part. He thought flying off into space with a nuclear fireball behind them² would be the end of things, several million words, (and the involvement of about a dozen other writers), later we still haven't seen the end of it.
2: Remember, this was a Dirty Pair fic. It also totally wasn't their fault³, they didn't even know about how the bad guy had hot-rodded the school's research reactor and it even went super-critical on its own.
