@Red_Piotrus The best part about Shinn is seeing him fail, time and time again. He thinks he's such hot shit, but Kira and Athrun thrash him at just about every turn. He could have been a hero, but he just became a gullible asshole.
I guess it makes sense that GSD ended the way it did. People are fine with a shit story and shit characters as long as their favorite idiots trash everyone and win at the end. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that Shinn (or many of the characters) are good, but I'm struggling to see how he's worse character than Kira and ESPECIALLY Athrun other than having the show swept from under him and turned into fodder for them to beat up. I honestly wouldn't care if Shinn died if the story was good, but here we are?
What's Athrun's character arc this time around? It's the same one as last time , despite the fact that he should know better. It even gets down to the point of Lacus giving him a speech and a Gundam. For fuck's sake. It doesn't help that while hanging out with the new guys, he mopes around and acts like a gigantic hypocrite. (it's totally not cool to help people, unless they're MY friends!" What's Kira's play in this? Don't you dare fight Orb, even when they've joined with the EA, I guess. Someone has to go up against Gilbert at the end, I guess. We've got Rey switching sides at the drop of a plot device device, everything that has to do with Mwu/Neo, Cagaili's character being destroyed, and that's just the top of the barrel
Go ahead and shit on Shinn, all day. But praising the majority of the cast in this series is like praising the corn in a piece of shit. It's just more crap under a thin layer.
Base +5, BlackZaku +7, jfragrettel +8, AirMaster +7
I'm not saying Shinn's not a good character. He's fine. He's "someone who should have been a hero, but lost his way". But that doesn't mean I like him.
