Actually given new lore from F/GO, Her name probably was originally Frances, since she was always a woman. She was just that badass that she effortlessly emasculates men and her crew refused to accept she was a woman and always considered her a man. She did kick Poseidon's ass solo, ending the age of the gods and ushering in the age of discovery.
