Harem anime should end as harem or at least open ended. Although I love Waifu wars, I frikin hate when the MC starts to dump each waifu, which is why I stopped reading Nisekoi manga after the MC there started doing it, and seriously why bother making it into a harem when the MC will just dump all but one anyways? In theory, it would actually work.

A couple can produce roughly one child per year, so 1 male + 1 female = 1 child

Two couples can each produce one child per year, so 2 males + 2 females = 2 children

Polygamy can produce more children than a regular couples per year, 1 male + 2 females = 2 children

Money helps a lot, it is not the same for a couple who has a yearly income of 100k per year to have a child every two year, than a guy with two girl who has an income of 1 million per year, more money means better opportunities for your children, so even if you have 1 child every 3 year with an income of 1 million, your children will be better of than those of a couple who only make 100k per year.

Again in theory it would work, BUT in reality individuals who have high education and income levels don't have many children, so even if a rich guy gets 6 wives he would probably only have 1 child with every wife at most...

The problem in japan is that they are too busy working themselves to dead, so marriage and baby making aren't even on their radar. What would actually work, it is like that H manga in which the government pairs couples who have very high sexual affinity with each other, that would work, you can't easily fight genes and natural impulses. Sorry I don't remember the name.

to be honest, living in a country where polygamy is indeed allowed, i think allowing polygamy won't really solve the problem of declining birth rate in japan. even if you allow a man to marry hundred of wives, not all will do so; some are afraid of the added responsibilities, lots of them just don't have the capacity/finance to support the wives and kids and most aren't interested in having more than one soul mate/children. plus, stuff doesnt work like in harem stories- girls doesnt just naturally flock to guys and ask to get knocked up. coupled with the fact that a good percentage of men there have confidence issues, they don't actively pursue women let alone, having marriage. plus most of them, especially in the urbans are just too accustomed to living single, they feel more content staying that way.

not to mention the backlash that you will most definitely get when your wives' felt that they're treated unequally or simply can't tolerate each other. in some case i've seen here, the wives doesn't want to live under one roof with each other so it falls to the husband to juggle going back and forth between them- which to be frank, is more burden than anything. it really takes a miracle to marry more than one and have a completely happy married life with everyone.

the only real way to solve birth rate problem, is to make people feel more [interested and secure] to marry AND actually make children- like giving them more and better financial support and other benefits for family starters and established families.

This guy must take lessons from Hyodou Issei!.
