The biggest problem I had as a newbie was figuring out you could transform. Transforming mid-battle heals all your damage for a bit of mana. And you can attack a non-boss enemy then run away for more mana, to heal yourself mid-dungeon. This gets even more broken when you get the technique to heal yourself, powered up by the AOE or multi-hit spells to raise your TP quickly.
