This is an absolute gem of an upload. So much fantastic information and amazing illustrations, behind the scenes look at how the show was made.

For example, I had no idea that they were meant to not be frozen solid in the first episode. While I kind of knew it wasn't hollow, since Katara chops at the ice and "wind" blows out of it, it's still interesting to note that they wanted to show Aang spinning inside the iceberg to show he was frozen inside, and was inside some sort of balled up energy. But it was to expensive to animate.

Also, a shame none of the Japanese studios wanted to collab with them. They missed out on such a big opportunity, especially a lot of the smaller studios that could have gotten their name out there.

Edit: Also interesting - the sketches of Katara. Yoon Young Ki's illustrations look like they could have come out of any Japanese childrens show from 1990 - now. Whereas Konietzko's illustrations lean much more to that rounded western style. Obviously the show is a blend between many, many inspirations, but goddamn if it isn't cool to see how things all came together. What could have been (for better, or for worse!)
