After the PBS artbook and then this one I’m wondering if Nan didn’t start employing a shadow artist to assist them. The style seems to shift sometimes between Nan’s older softer style (like in Evenicle) and the newer harsher color style. I still think Nan’s newer way of drawing mouths looks kinda weird.

Edit: To be clear, I’m aware some of the character portraits later are literally the ones from Burst, so they are in Nan’s older style. I’m saying that the newer illustrations also show some variation at times. But the addition of the Burst portraits help illustrate what I’m talking about. Just flip between any characters new and old ones
