Hey, yes, I know, EHCove just uploaded this, but I have the worst luck ever and this kind of thing has happened to me twice now despite only having a handful of releases.

The story: I got commissioned to do this about 2+ weeks ago, but I was travelling so I postponed it for a while. Today, I'm finishing up the last couple of pages when my commissioner emails me and says "EHCove just uploaded this".
We ended up agreeing to just upload it anyway so my time and effort and the commissioner's money does not go to waste. There is no ill intent.

Second time in less than a week we've had dueling translations drop almost simultaneously (unneeded fireworks from the other event IMO), and as you said already the second time this has happened to you in less than a month. Please don't let this discourage you.

TBH, I've seen this kind of stuff happen enough to other translators that it drives them out of the community (e.g.-https://e-hentai.org/uploader/FUKE I really wonder how many people remember who this is...). And, if some of you don't believe me this is worth a read; https://archive.fo/zCCzc (some will say good riddance or whatever but toxic/indifferent responses to someone else's toxicity/rant isn't helpful to anyone involved).

Anyway, that just my two cents. I hope the discourse here remains cordial.

Stuff like this happens. Nice job. EHCOVE does list all open projects (we have 100+) in the bounties https://e-hentai.org/bounty.php so you can try to check it in the future, but majority of scanlating groups (or individuals) don't list stuff there so there's that. Would be nice, if one does have a bounty, to leave a comment in the RAW that 'TL has started'. . But again, almost nobody does it, so... shrug. I will note that while we don't always do this ourselves, in this case we DID - I left a comment in the RAW saying we have a bounty for this. Of course, the bounty has been up for a while (bounty opened 2017-12-10, TL accepted 2018-05-22, editing accepted 2018-06-18). If you started you project before the bounty was started or the TL was accepted, well, it's not like old dojins are often competing. If you did start it after 05-22, well... somebody didn't bother to read the comments :P

And yeah, I hope nobody is discouraged by this (EHCOVE certainly doesn't mind). To avoid wasted effort, I encourage all TLs to make comments for projects they are starting in the galleries (I'll go and add comments to our galleries 20+ projects in editing/TL if they are missing).

Shit happens bro just know there is people out there who are asking other Scanlators to translate a release they want to read. It the luck of the draw more or less, take it with a pinch of salt and focus on your next release.

I certainly remembered FUKE and the final blog post in the archive Megaton posted. That was a long way back.
And I can say that not one translator have more dedication to NaPaTa than he/she was, translation quality aside.
It was an illuminating case to say the least. Shame that people just burn him/her instead of trying to extend some supportive and calming messages.
Shows a lot about the keyboard warrior mentality I guess.

Certain series that I love make it hard to enjoy hentai of it. Danmachi is one of them. The fact that it was in the context of Hestia's delusions made it quite fapp... Enjoyable.
