It's a visual novel which means it has different routes and such which is what "Notalent" was referring to with regards to "bad end" (that is, a plot-path that results in the VN-equivalent of a "game over"). This is also why there are different "versions" when it comes to anime as they are largely different adaptations of the different routes and stuff along with some prequels, sequels, and spin-offs and such.

I personally would suggest reading the Fate/stay night visual novel instead, but I'm also one of those people that didn't even really care for Fate/Zero and heck actually enjoyed the DEEN anime adaptation of all things (incoming downvotes in 3... 2... 1...).

However, in terms of reading the visual novel, I would at least wait around a month or so for the beta version of what has been deemed the "Merge Project" since that will include things like higher-resolution text and graphics (all previously-existing versions of the VN on PC only rendered at 800x600). You can track progress of this elusive "merge project" by searching for the lengthy phrase
"4745-Fate-Stay-Night-Realta-Nua-PC-version-Mirror-Moon-TL-insertion-project"
(yes, with dashes) in your favorite search engine and it should be the first result (for reference it's a giant forum thread originally created for an older version of the visual novel), from there just go to the last couple pages of the forum thread and you'll find updates and discussion of this so-called "merge project".

Actually there's not much more that the visual novel would explain as we never really see or hear details about the hell that Sakura apparently went through other than the fact that she did.

In the visual novel we only find this out later in Heaven's Feel. Since only the first of 3 parts of the Heaven's Feel movie are out, this means that there isn't even an anime adaptation that really covers the subject, and even then it's using the PG-13 "vampirey-ness" from the PS2 port of the VN rather than the original "rapey-ness" which means that it may never even truly cover the subject matter you're looking for enlightenment on.

EDIT: Also there's always Fate/Zero which is sort of direct prequal to Heaven's Feel and it somewhat touches on the subject in question, but I can't vouch for its accuracy with regards to the original VN's "rapey-ness" vs "vampirey-ness" or even how much depth it even goes into on the subject (again, I'm one of those FSN purists／heretics that really didn't care for Fate/Zero so I just kind of skimmed through it).
