I think people are justified in being irritated by the prevalent use of Fanbox and Fantia to milk money from viewers. Many artists used to drop complete works (comics or CG sets) through anthologies or digital marketplaces, while releasing single images like these for free with what spare time they had. Now more and more of them have stopped producing those expansive works and are riding the cash flow they get off one or two images per month. I don't mind supporting competent, hard working artists through these support platforms but it irritates the shit out of me when they become lazy and complacent from it. I don't know how any of this has affected Mikoyan's output but it makes sense that folk might chafe at the very sight of these paywalls.

There's a good goddamn reason why the list of animators I used to support through Patreon eventually dwindled down to only SelfDrillingSMS.

Yeah, ive been seeing this more and more lately as i've browsed Pixiv. Artists that used to upload a lot of quality art and reserve special variants/HQ versions for patrons, now have started to only upload cropped/censored/partially covered versions, requiring you to subscribe to them, and upload much less frequently. It's pretty sad.

Another problem with the subscription based model is that paying customers are at the mercy of the artist and has to fork out money regardless whether they like the content released or not. I had signed on to some of these in the past and after too many "dry spells" just gave up entirely. Time and money and care better spent elsewhere.
