Every time I see North Carolina referring to her battle stats as "Average" or that's she's "plain." I do think that most ships work well in KanColle or Warship Girls than in Azur Lane. Because the game mechanic is heavily favored on "skills"

I think the Siren somehow cast a spell that put the commander in unconscious state and the KANSENs (shipgirl term of this game) are slowly forgetting him starts from his name (in this case: you the player). His girls then try to bring him back by using their bonds as the commander had married them (ships who appear in this doujin).

In meta sense, it can be interpreted like what H0R0 said.
