XCNumbers is correct, @boag. Saving face is the most important thing in Japan (and in other Asian countries). And it goes beyond sex stuff. For example, if you've put in your eight hours at work, but your boss hasn't gone home yet, you stay at work until your boss leaves because otherwise, you'd lose face in front of your co-workers and boss as you'd be perceived as not being a team player and not being a hard worker.
