At first I was hoping this was going to be an absurdly elaborate sex roleplay thing the staff get up to once they think all the students are gone, but now I have absolutely no idea how the fuck this is supposed to factor into anything.

Okay, now that it seems to be clear where this is going I can honestly say I would rather have seen this go unfinished than be used as a vehicle for some ridiculous 'Judy gets double teamed by two Nicks thanks to supervillain sci-fi magic' scene.

The real strength of this series has been its consistently excellent writing, presenting the reader with a genuinely excellent portrayal of two people stumbling into a budding sexual relationship that gradually opens up the possibility of it becoming something more. It made you emotionally invested in the characters far beyond simply getting your rocks off - I wanted to see more of this evolving relationship between the two, and the original work ended right on the cusp of a potentially huge revelation between the two of them. This continuation throws all of that into the bin and then sets fire to it for good measure by completely ignoring all of this in favour of introducing this completely and utterly absurd 'cloned Nick' plot delivered by an even more absurd and out-of-place evil scientist with a completely nonsensical plan to blow up an empty police academy because reasons.

Eehm, okay but... I'll be honest, it's a little disappointing.
I mean, the deep, sensual, "realist" side is what I'm interested in about this comic. The writing before the sex scenes.
Well, let's see where it goes...

Everyone is down on the new twist. Personally, I'm excited to see how it turns out. Could this be the start of an excellent plot gone completely wrong? Absolutely!

However, those deep, emotional moments that made this series so great are still there. This new chapter isn't necessarily some out-of-nowhere twist that's going to be an end to that style of writing. Instead, I'd say it's something of a call back to the movie that inspired it. Zootopia had a lot of emotional writing, deep connections to its many complex character, that made it a great movie. It also had a reference to the God Father that resulted in an arctic shrew being one of the most feared criminals in the city, somehow in command of a legion of polar bears. Despite the very real practicality of there being no rationale for how that would come about in the first place.

There's a lot of potential here, for this latest section. Is it kind of goofy? Sure, but so was Zootopia. If the cloning proves to be an exception to the rule, of this otherwise quite serious story, then I'm looking forward very much to seeing how it turns out.

I had thought the whole Evil Scientist thing was out of place and used to push something else. I expected that laser to make Nick able to breed with Judy. Like the ray would somehow make him compatible to rabbits or different mammals, and that would lead to some storyline with Judy pregnant... I'll admit I didn't see this coming.

And in regards to the story, it definitely feels like a sudden swerve from the more 'grounded' story. Look talk about how this is set in a world filled with talking animals in cloths all you want but this story the writer made, specifically, was set with a tone and story. To a degree, it didn't show the possibility for something like this to be something of a focal point or at least wasn't hinted at greatly in past chapters. The only real necessity I see of this is that one Nick can go with Judy with her family while the other goes wherever he needs to. Which feels a bit forced if that's the case or plan. Though that's speculative, I guess there's just a few questions I ask myself over this.

Now could it be bad? Maybe or maybe not, I have no idea, it could potentially be okay or good or just inconsequential, you never can guess these things. Is it a bit of a leap over an oceanic carnivore or logic?... Kind of is, regardless of quality afterwards, like stated before it is a bit of a sudden introduction to this concept into a series of chapters mainly focusing on Judy and Nick's budding relationship rather than sci-fi based shenanigans. But I'll hold off judgement until after this is done. Maybe it'll lead back to something or be entertaining in its own way.

Okay I gotta agree with some of the discontentment about the way the story is going, before it was a really hot story of two characters pushing their sexual and emotional bonds and now we have evil scientists and clones? Maybe this is just a dream sequence, and the author is using it to by time while they are having writers block.
