At the time they diagnosed it as dyslexia but learning difficaulties wasn't considered a problem in UK schools back then and children who struggled in school were considered delinquents and thier way of dealing with us was to put at the back of the class, often with your back facing the blackboard and separated from your friends during class. Very brutal backwards times.

I left school without the ability to read or write, no qualifications and a life time of scars..

I learned to read from playing games like Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy 7.. and Japanese doujinshi. xD

It's really not quality, because the artist is very good at drawing bodies. It's just the artstyle. It's cool to have subjective tastes - we all do, but it's not "poor quality", its just a different art style you dislike.

Regardless, hate to go emo or rant about hentai, but this was supremely interesting. I really liked it. People mention how sad it feels throughout, and I think it's in the eyes. Otokonoko de Asobou draws a layer of sadness beneath his eyes that really gets to me.

Ultimately, it's unknowable what has happened to this kid, the trauma, mental illness, whatever. Its clear he cuts himself both as a distraction and because it feels good, physiologically (the reason most people self injure) and he seeks out self-injurious sexual activities to heighten it. His death drive is interesting in that he's going through it via sexual means. Makes me wonder if his trauma in the past is sexual in nature, potentially? A very large amount of people with sexual trauma respond to it with hypersexuality. The introspection of the guy fucking him elevates the whole narrative imo. Adds a layer of reflection you don't get even in other more 'serious' hentai plots. He has sadist/BDSM tendencies, but knows enough about it all to know about code words, boundaries. But the kid doesn't at all - suggesting it might not be BDSM play he's after like the guy is, but something a little more fucked up.

Choco-chan got me, though. Extreme attachment to this plushie into young adulthood as a friend/confidante. The plushie is as messed up as him - it's funny but it's true, when you have a cutup and messed up soul you often seek out souls that have also been cutup just as hard. I think his line about 'you did this because I'm cute, right?' and the plushie suggest he wants love. Just not sure he knows how to get it. Even the man who fucked him says he didn't seek him out again, possibly because he knows this poor child wants to take it too far.

tl;dr - sad shit, man. Poor kid. Though maybe like the guy says, wishing he lives happily ever after is just for our own ego, to feel better. What a great doujin. Asobou is a great artist.
