EDIT: zur1 sent me a lengthy PM on e-hentai's forums. I appreciate his honesty, but at the same time, this also most accurately depicts what most scanlations not from established groups like the Little White Butterflies, Team Koinaka, RedLantern, and White Symphony are: one-person efforts with almost no regard to the quality of editing or translation, which is fucking unacceptable. Take from zur1's PM what you will (listed in its entirety below), but that's just what I got out of it.

"Heya,

Actually huge thanks for the comment. Despite the insults, it was really informative.

I wanted to let you know that, as the last page suggests, I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm 1 guy. I saw a Yokkora doujin that just sat there untranslated for 8 months and thought: "I've got nothing to do this weekend; why not take a crack at it".

I first looked at the Japanese, aka original, version. At first glance, after comparing it to the Chinese one, I thought the Chinese one looked clearer (darker), and since I didn't have (or didn't bother looking for) a better scanned Japanese version, I decided to do it with the Chinese one.

I don't know any Japanese, Chinese, Korean, or any language besides English, Georgian (country), and a bit of Russian. I was using either Google or Yandex to translate, along with Google Keep as the OCR.

I started off translating the text from the Japanese version of the doujin. I knew that the English would come out very broken, but I thought that it would be to the extent where, with context, I could type out the intended sentences. Oh, boy did that not work out. Over half of what I was translating came out as nonsense. After fiddling for an hour or two with that, I decided to also translate from the Chinese version and cross-examine the two translations to figure out what was being said. That sort of worked out (emphasis on the "sort of") and I just went with it.

I didn't know what fonts to use since I didn't have any prior experience with anything translating related. I googled the font for the comic (and I guess I got that one right since you didn't mention it in your comment xd). For the title, I went with whatever I thought looked good. Same for the moans and stuff.

I took a while with the title to make it look close to the original style. I didn't even think of putting it as horizontal and I don't know why. I thought it looked better bold, so I bolded it, and seems I didn't notice that the rest of the translations I was about to type out would be bolded too. I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out.

I translated what I could in the distorted bubbles, but a lot of it Google Keep wouldn't pick up. And since I don't know any Japanese or Chinese, I couldn't translate those. The reason most of the Chinese distorted bubbles were translated was that they weren't very stylized, unlike the Japanese ones, so the OCR picked them up. The Chinese bubble on page 13 that you pointed out to be untranslated wasn't picked up by the OCR.

"ZM" are my initials and I just wanted to put them there to prove to my friends that I actually translated it. The "Have no idea what they're doing translations" being in plural has no particular reason, it's more for gender-neutralizing the sentence. And the name was also heavily inspired by this legendary name of a group,
www.mangaupdates.com/groups.html?id=11365

As for the "ZM'" being on the front cover, I didn't know. The Chinese version also had their thing on the front, so I thought that's what you were supposed to do. I didn't mean for it to be disrespectful.

Now the size. The only time I use Photoshop (what I used to translate this) is when I edit photos for friends and family, and make memes or funny edits. I always just export as PNG and be done with it. I didn't know that exporting them as grayscale 32/64-Color PNGs would cut down on size (thanks for telling me that btw). Another reason the size is so large: When I looked at the scans, I thought that they were pretty pixelated, so after translating the doujin, I decided to 2x upscale the images online.

And yes, I do now think that "Come on! Give me feedback!" sounds really unnatural lol.

If you read all of that, thanks for listening to my rambling explanations and justifications. I'm not thinking of doing another translation tbh, so don't worry, you won't see something this horrible again lol.

I also didn't mean to be disrespectful to Yokkora. I also really like their work. Watching the doujin sit there, untranslated, for 8 months just bugged me and I did what I could.

Lastly, forgive me for clapping back and don't take too much offense with this, but if "Yokkora deserves a hell of a lot better", then why didn't you, or anyone else with experience in translating do it. If the doujin came out days or even weeks ago, I'd understand that criticism. "A guy who has no idea what he's doing butchers a newly released doujin when people who do know what they're doing would've done it justice". But it was 8 months. 8 months and no one bothered to touch it. So I did.

Again, thanks for the comment since I know it was written with passion and I want to sincerely apologize for making you even take time to type it out.

I just really hope you don't take all of this as sarcasm lol." (END OF PM)

If only more people were honest like him. At least now he knows better than to pollute e-hentai with shitlations (read: McHentai).
