H'okay, chapter three. Hopefully there should be a marked increase in quality with this one. I've more or less settled on fonts for basic things like normal talking and sex talking. It occurs to me that once this story is done, the shifts between chapters in terms of quality are gonna make this look like 5 different people did them. Though I guess that would be preferable to consistently mediocre quality.
Apparently I was supposed to be cleaning these pages. Something that, in hindsight, I probably could've found out by reading *check notes* literally any translating guide. Oh well, they're cleaned now. ...ish. I mean, still new, so the difference between a clean and dirty page is kinda nebulous to me right now. Anyone with more experience and a keen eye is more than welcome to let me know where to improve.
As always, other stuff as well. Dialogue, typesetting, font choice, sfx choice, all open to critique.
Thanks to THDragon for their tremendously in-depth, yet succinct breakdown of Chapter 2. Definitely helped me out a lot.

Hi LapisLunatic. Glad you took my advice, and it's nice to see consistency in the fonts. One thing really sticks out like a sore thumb, and that's your scan quality. While you did level your scans, you made yet another rookie mistake: overleveling. All your blacks are way too dark. In addition, you most likely used Topaz denoise to "clean" your scans. While Topaz does do that, it also blurs fine lines and destroys any details that you haven't already destroyed by overleveling (both making things too dark and making things too bright).

Granted, the Chinese scanlation of the Japanese RAW is of terrible quality, but your over-zealousness in cleaning scans means you've made them look all smeary and greasy, like a bad oil painting. Whatever denoise program you're using, STOP USING IT IMMEDIATELY! Good editing is hard, mainly because a good portion of it is learned by doing, which again, is easier said than done. As an editor for the LWB scanlation group, I can attest to that. In fact, I'll do you one better and level a single page so that you'll have an idea of what it's supposed to look like.

For this example, I chose page 3. You can see the leveling histogram on the right-hand side of this snapshot: https://puu.sh/GPVPB/d45941ecaf.png
Top part: https://puu.sh/GPVQB/9a3548fec4.png
Middle third: https://puu.sh/GPVRv/cc10c0b7ac.png

This is what the leveled scan is supposed to look like, and I think that those values on the leveling histogram should carry over to the rest of the pages. I chose this page specifically because the motorcycle riding suit has all these fine details which you've completely obliterated with your overzealous leveling and Topaz denoising. Topaz denoise is only to be used as a means of last resort, when conventional methods have failed. Leveling alone will work the vast majority of the time, which I've learned through hundreds of hours of experience. Granted, the RAW isn't the best, but it's not that terrible. A single leveling layer is more than enough to clean your raw pages, which I've just proven. So it's good that you're learning and gaining experience along the way, but it's also important not to go overboard and strike a good balance between too much and not enough. Too much leveling is just as bad, if not worse than no leveling at all.

To a lesser degree, your typesetting needs a fair bit of work as well. If you're ever confused as to what constitutes good typesetting, look at other works from established scanlation groups such as the LWB, RedLantern, Team Koinaka, and White Symphony, and see how they typeset their bubbles. Hell, you can even look at my works on my gallery page and see how I typeset my bubbles so that you can learn to do the same. But keep up the good work. At least your fonts are more consistent, but there's still plenty of room for improvement to be had. If you want to show me that you're improving, start by updating the gallery with properly leveled scans instead of this over-leveled, smeary mess of a scanlation.
