So to give a little explanation to everyone that's confused, according to his most recent journal post, Simon intentionally made the story hard to follow to subvert expectations because normal bimbofication stories have been done a million times over, which is something I can agree with, but intentionally causing the reader confusion just isn't the right solution to making a story interesting or different in my opinion.
