Such an underrated movie. And what potential bombshell we lost here.

@Glust - I think the biggest problem people have with A:LE is that it wasn't your typical Disney princess movie as there were no songs. We were still in the very early days of CGI animated movies, so traditional 2D movies still had a huge draw. Atlantis was great, but with out the songs just didn't draw the kids in like its predecessors did. And now those kids are grown up pervs like the rest of us, but don't recall the lovely chocolate desert that is Kida...

@Redwind That's not the only problem the movie had. While the movie has merits, it's also have a honking big flaw: its similarity (to a point where it is uncanny) to the anime Fushigi no Umi no Nadia, released 6 years earlier. it's a "lion king" situation: both the disney movie and the anime are so close they could literally be based on the same premise:

"A young and bookish man encounters a young black girl who possesses a strange blue stone with incredible powers. the black girl is the heiress to atlantis and her power is seeked for malevolent reason by military types of vilains."

There are obviously differences between the movie and the anime, but the similarities are still so uncanny that saying the movie doesn't owe anything to the anime (which disney team maintain) is bullshit. Of course, it gets worse once you know Fushigi no Umi no Nadia is, itself, based on the same early works as another japanese movie, "Laputa -- Castle in the sky". But the main problem about the similarities between the disney and the anime was that atlantis was produced by Don Hahn. the same guy who blatantly plagiarized Tezuka's "Jungle Taitei" to make his "lion king".

But to stay on topic: Kida is still hot and I'd fuck her in a heartbeat.
