Thanks for translating this. Unfortunately you fell for the newbie trap and used the 1280x resolution resample pages for editing instead of the original raw which is around ~3174 x 4540. For gallery viewing, e-hentai downsamples all images to 1280x resolution so if you downloaded the pages without using the original source link, you got the reduced version instead.

Another possibility is that you downloaded the raw from one of the aggregator sites such as NH. These sites only copy galleries from e-hentai at resample quality and thus don't have the original resolution versions available. You shouldn't use these sites as a source for your raws.

Always check that you're using the original raw before you start editing. If you ever see the resolution being 1280x something, then most of the time that means something is wrong and you got the wrong version.

Here's some ways you can download the original full resolution version of any gallery on e-hentai:
1) Torrent download if a torrent is available. Avoid any torrents labeled 1280x though.
2) Click on Archive download and then Download Original Archive.
3) If you prefer to download one page at a time, make sure you download using the Download Original Source link located below each opened image in the gallery.

Thank you for the advice. Since I haven't done any decensoring on this yet, I will look into locating the larger files. I was having trouble finding them, and have been trying to get a hold of this manga since it was released in Japan. I'll be sure to update this gallery when I have the chance to.

The larger files are here on this very website. As per the copied message that Scumbini posted, you simply downloaded a resampled version instead of the original resolution of the following gallery:

If the filesize of that gallery (257.3 MB) wasn't enough of a giveaway, the resolution is nice and big (just over 4500 vertical pixels per page except for the cover).

EDIT: I've dropped my version because you've convinced me that you're quite the Photoshop user, possibly moreso than myself. I thought you were just another one of those McHentai fucks who puts stuff out without a care for quality and readability. After seeing literally thousands of posts that look exactly like yours, I couldn't tell that you were a skilled Photoshop user because until now, you didn't point out the blurry parts, dirt, dust, damage from tears and adhesive, etc. Still, as an editor for the LWB scanlation group, I can point out problems with your editing as oftentimes, skill with Photoshop doesn't equate into skill in editing.

Your typesetting on the other hand is quite problematic, mainly your leading (the spacing between lines). Simply put, it's WAY too wide. It also shifts so often that it's quite annoying to read. Keep your leading consistent. Adjust the font size, not the leading to fill out bubbles. Your font sizes also shift drastically, from too big to too small. Keep your font sizes consistent, no more than 2 or 3 points variance within each other. You also overuse ellipses, which definitely breaks the flow of normal dialogue. Just because it's in the RAW doesn't mean you have to phrase it verbatim. The male character's thoughts are the same font (Digital Strip) as his dialogue. Use Italics to differentiate between the two.
And get rid of Anime Ace 2.0 (Kirika's font). Use a different font, like Meanwhile, Samaritan, Clementine, Joe Kubert, or many of the other better and less bulky fonts that almost nobody else uses. One last thing: Don't vertically typeset. Even with the resample size, you have plenty of space to typeset horizontally. Vertical typesetting is a pain in the ass to read.

I'll leave this sample here to show you my now abandoned project and what good, non-eye gouging typesetting looks like, with consistent leading and font sizes. Oh, and your brush tool is grey on the first doujin page where Kirika wakes up her master. All the bubbles have grey bubbles where it should be fully white.

As to saving your files, convert them to Greyscale instead of RGB color, then export them as 32-color B/W PNGs to reduce bloat, which is especially important in a massive RAW like this one.

Also, you have to do the legwork yourself if you want to improve. Don't expect others to do the work for you. You have to read their advice and follow through with it, otherwise it's meaningless.

Thank you for the link. You aren't the first to comment about that. I am actually working on a higher-quality version of this now, which will have both a decensored and censored version (and possibly a clean text version). I didn't clean up nearly as much as I normally do because I wanted to get it out quick, since this manga was already translated into other languages when I found it. I am doing a much better version now, including cleaning up errors from the scans (out-of-focus, dirt, damage) removing artifacts (one page has elements of the draft still visible), better typesetting, slightly improved translation, and so forth. I assure you I am actually a highly skilled Photoshop user and will be able to improve this, now that I have the higher quality files. I will update this one with the newer censored one once I finish it, and I will upload an uncensored version in a new gallery when it is done as well.
