Mirim from Queen’s Blade Rebellion

Up to this point I’ve passed over the figures from Queen’s Blade, but when I saw the promo pictures for Mirim, I knew she was going on my buy list. With a profession given as “Ultra-Vibration Valkyrie,” how could I resist her? Add in a cute outfit and a chainsaw sword and I was sold.

She’s also technically my first MegaHouse figure, although I guess Villetta Nu is half a MegaHouse figure. She’s in 1/8 scale, although she’s a bit short at just over 16 centimeters from her feet to the top of her hair.

She also has by far the most detachable parts of any figure I own. Her sword, shield, the strap holding on her shield, her right elbow guard, her left shoulder guard, both her right and left forearms, her left upper arm, her necklace, her head, her visor, and her leotard can all be removed. I’m not intending to dismantle her again any time soon for fear of losing her accessories.

Painting and sculpting both look great in a technical sense. I suppose there is one problem in that there’s a faint but noticeable seam running up and down her left side; that’s not uncommon among mass-manufactured PVC figures so I’m inclined to give MegaHouse a pass on that. Mirim does have some strange hipbones; her thighs look too large for her hips, which makes her pelvis look rather unnatural from certain angles, particularly when her clothes are removed.

Speaking of which, her outfit was a colossal pain to remove and then put back on her. Since her thighs are almost squeezed together, it was a huge struggle to slide the bottom part of her clothing back into place. I found it helpful to get the red part of her thong positioned over her crotch before trying to yank the rest of it between her legs and up over her backside. (That sounds rather perverted, does it not? While such indelicate phrasing would and should assault the sensibilities of any civilized hobbyist, I’d hate for anyone to damage Mirim while trying to dress her up.) It was even more difficult to attach the straps of her belt; I got one of them attached and gave up on the other when I noticed debris flaking off of it.

If anyone is curious, she has nipples but Barbie doll anatomy elsewhere.

I’m sure that Queen’s Blade fans won’t hesitate to snatch her up, and they shouldn’t; Mirim is an awesome figure, and I’m very happy to have her.

I’ve had little success using a white background in the past so I usually use the same black fabric backdrop for most of my photo sets. I recently got some very welcome and helpful advice from C. Wichura with regard to shooting pictures on a white background, and I think these pictures turned out better than my previous efforts. Incidentally, I threw away my lightbox; I used a couple pieces of white foamboard that I had laying around here instead, and they were much easier to set up and work with than a clunky fabric-covered box.
