Okay, seriously, what HAPPENED to Jay Naylor as a writer? I WANT to like this story for not just being another platform for him to spout off his weird philosophical beliefs, and it started out REALLY well. But are there pages missing? Yes, we all want to see these characters fuck, but what happened to the struggle? Where's the tension as they slowly cross that line? I may have said "let them enjoy this forbidden pleasure" in my last comment, but THEY shouldn't want to enjoy it; they're trying to AVOID it! It took Madeline a DAY to work up the nerve to start sucking him off, but the very next night, BOOM! They're doing each other as easily as anything, even though Francisco thinks she might be a succubus? Okay, fine, he couldn't easily grab his glasses when he woke up from her sucking him off the first time, but even while out of focus, it's CLEARLY someone from his church. He asks who it is (already making the correct assumption that this is a "who" instead of a "what"), and she says "forgive me"? Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but what kind of demon asks for forgiveness as it's taking what it wants? If poor Francisco here is so freaked out by this that he thinks he actually WAS attacked by a demon instead of one of the nuns falling prey to a moment of weakness, why isn't he trying to ward her off the next time she comes around? We see him researching what might've attacked him, but what is he reading to make him think that this okay? The way his book is juxtaposed against their having sex, it LOOKS like it should be saying something that encourages him to continue, but... why would it? Shouldn't this only confirm his suspicions of what she is? (And why is it drawn so tightly that we can't even read it for more than a few words at a time?) He asks "Are you real?" and "Who are you?", and her answer is "a woman"? She couldn't put him at ease by saying her NAME, or guiding his hand to her rosary to show him he has nothing to fear from her? (Seems to me like a succubus wouldn't be able to wear one of those.) Why isn't he wearing his glasses later anyway? Does he not want to be on his guard from this monster attacking him? If Madeline prefers to be vague as to who she is out of fear of being found out, I would sooner think that fear would keep her from doing this again anyway, or at least for a WHILE before she attempts something again. And she asks him to "sin with me"? She's devoting her ENTIRE LIFE to the church. What she SHOULD be asking for is absolution. She's trying to live as sin-free a life as possible, but God help her, she's just not strong enough. She has the same urges and needs that everyone else has, and she HATES herself for succumbing to them. Francisco stops her before anything else can continue, but the tension between them (and with themselves) is off the charts the next couple of days. After some time passes, Madeline comes to him again, they draw some mutual conclusions as to why this ISN'T as terrible as they were taught to believe, and THAT'S how they end up finally having sex.

Writing, started off well... then dropped off a cliff. If Naylor has something to say about this group or that set of attitudes about whatever, that's fine.
