@AlfonssoZayas That's the Old Persian semi-alphabetic cuneiform script. Some letters have been somewhat deciphered https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Persian_cuneiform (scroll down to #Signs).

But the uploader is extremely ignorant as the damaged clay tablet containing bits of Bilgamesh's tales (spelled as Gilgamesh in English) was written in the Akkadian language with the Sumero-Akkadian cuneiform script and not in the Old Persian script (those scripts look entirely different and aren't influenced by each other).

As a person who has been studying and trying to write in cuneiform scripts recently, I can't fault the translator for using old Persian instead of Sumerian or Akkadian. Old Persian is not only similar to an alphabet in terms of structure, but also has spaces (represented with a rotated long character) which make each word distinct and readable. Akkadian has no such distinction and words often blend into each other. Not to mention, Akkadian and Sumerian are structured more like Japanese in which they have glyphs that represent meanings rather than syllables as well as an additional syllabary. Learning any one of these old languages would be a huge effort for what is essentially a shitpost. I'd like to learn old sumerian but I'm currently having trouble finding out how. Old Persian on the other hand you can mostly just google. Nonetheless I appreciate the time that went into this translation.

Have you tried Dr Joshua Bowen and Megan Lewis' "Learn to Read Ancient Sumerian: An Introduction for Complete Beginners"? They pair are deep into Assyrian history and very familiar with Cuneiform. If the book isn't enough you can also reach out to them at Digital Hammurabi on youtube for recommendations on resources to pick up Sumerian/Akkadian.

这不是乌加里特字母，查unicode会查到乌加里特字母只能说明上传者标题里用了Ugaritic alphabet而已，不代表翻译作品里的文字是乌加里特字母。

其实对比字母表可以很清楚的发现这就是古波斯楔形文字(Old Persian cuneiform)

乌加里特字母的楔头更小，在构字上用得更碎，也有更多交叉笔画；而且因为考古发现的完整文献更少，现存已知的字母数明显比这本翻译里用到的古波斯楔形文字更少。虽说这个本子里用到的甚至还有一些已知字母表外的变体字，不过如果本身是玩梗而不是严肃翻译的，这都不是问题。

对应字母表，作者画家可以对出近似音符——

@aListers - How difficult would it have been for a native Sumerian or Akkadian to have read this, assuming they were literate? Like what if Sumerian or Akkadian was like Japanese in how it was grammatically put together, what about Old Persian? What is the closest equivalent to its grammar structure in our current era?

@warellis As far as I can tell, the Old Persian alphabet seems to be completely different from the one used by the Sumerians and Akkadians - it was just still based off the idea that you write it by making wedge shapes in clay. Not to mention they're all different language families. Persian is Indo-European (related to English, Hindi, Latin etc.), Akkadian is Semetic (related to Hebrew and Arabic) while Sumerian is a language isolate and not related to any language we know of.

As far as I can tell Sumerian's gramatical structure is somewhat similar to Chinese at least in which it's one syllable per meaning and one glyph per syllable. Persian would evolve into modern Iranian and I think Hebrew is the closest we have to Akkadian today as languages like Assyrian and Babylonian have all died out.

The thing about Akkadian was that it directly used the Sumerian writing system - even though it wasn't very compatable with it. I've heard that this occasionally ends up with people having to decipher if certain words should be read in Sumerian or Akkadian. My comparison to Japanese was mostly in the idea that you have symbols with meanings (much like Kanji) and some symbols that represent syllables (like Hiragana and Katakana) but I'm still learning about these languages and as far as I can tell it gets very confusing.
