Of course they are making it up/guessing. The author leaves some comments on Fanbox posts, but mostly just about what goes on in the current page or some explanations. I checked/am checking those and nowhere is anything such mentioned.
Reading between the lines/from the tone, I'd say he intends elf to get better and happier, of course it's a question how much is possible.

She would probably nuke them with magic in a fair fight (isn't it mentioned there that her magic is pretty strong?) but she was ambushed too quickly by professional hunter specialised in this. Either the comic itself or the fanbox state that the shithead with the big scar is a maniacal elf hater that is very skilful in capturing them. Would be nice if apothecary had opportunity to do a cancer excision op on him but that's probably wishful thinking.
