Because the Russian people were being led by a self-praising cult leader who wanted to grab the power for himself and had no qualms of sacrificing countless lives to accelerate his country from an agrarian state to an industrial powerhouse (did I mention Stalin was a former bank robber?)

He's more focused on his Russian side of post-WW2 history. In fact, during his youth, Baldaev's father was a Soviet propaganda stenographer, before he got executed for being "enemy of the state"; after that, Baldaev himself was sent to an orphanage for "children of traitors against the state"
