This booklet is one of two that I've scanned that came with my copy of Crusher! My Anime Emergency Special Edition. This booklet was published by Akita Shoten (株式会社秋田書店) in conjunction with Dai Nippon Printing in 1983 right after the Crusher Joe film was released. Akita Shoten published the My Anime magazine, which was a rival to other publications such as Animag, Newtype and OUT!.

As stated, this is one of the smaller books included within this text, as it contains a separate booklet with interviews as well as the main text, all of which I am still processing.

Unique features about this settei supplement:
-Page 2 contains Yas' original cel paintings for the main cast in Crusher Joe, some of which include colors that are a mild tone different than in the actual film. This was completed before the film was released for PR and publications, and its the only version of this that I have seen on the web.
-Pages 6 and 7 feature Keiko Takemiya's character concept art for the film; Alfin & Joe's datewear on 6 and the teenage club goers on page 7.
-Interviews with the actors who voiced the characters
-A small interview with Yas on the final page.

This book is well over 40+ years old but was well preserved from the seller. Given the condition of the binding and that the text is a very flat book, its easy to handle!

I do not do this professionally; I am just an avid fan and am sharing what I have with the world the best I can. If you have other materials, please share with everyone. This material is over 40+ years old and we have a brand new generation of people who need to see this history.

Page 3 - Crusher Joe
Born in 2114 AD, Canis Major, the fourth planet of Thor, Aramis. His father is Dan and his mother is Julia. He succeeded Dan as a Crusher at the age of 10. He holds a Crusher evaluation special A rank and is the leader of the Joe team. He is 180 cm tall (5"9) and weighs 75 kg (165 pounds), and his race is mainly Mongolian. He is 19 years old. He was forced to take on this job (as referenced in the film) because it was a life threatening job that jumped in during his vacation, but when he learned that he was used for illegal pirate work, he flew across the universe to clear his name.

Joe is portrayed by Hiroshi Takemura, "I really like the multifaceted nature of the show, which isn't just pure because its young, but because it has strength and nape, and all of the twists and turns make it more adult."

Page 4 - Crusher Alfin
Born in Cygnus Albisan in 2144 AD, her father was Harman II and her mother was Eliana, the princess of the Solidarity Planet of Pizanne. She stowaways aboard the Minerva in the wake of the Pizanne incident and becomes a Crusher. She replaced Crusher Gampino, who died while with the Minerva crew, as the team's navigator. She is 163 cm tall (5"3) and weighs 48 kg (105 pounds). She is mainly of Nordic descent and is 17 years old. She seems to be everywhere/ditzy and is a girl who is hard to find.

Alfin is portrayed by Run Sasaki, "It's a character that is strong and cute, and has a lot of chaotic, messy parts - so it's a character that matches me in a lot of ways. That's why I can understand Alfin's feelings!"

Page 5 - Crusher Talos

Born on Earth in 2109 AD. He used to work with Crusher Dan, but when Dan retired, he was asked to look after Joe and remained in the Minerva as a Metsuke (overseer) for Joe. He is a team pilot. 80% of his body has been cyborged, and his robotic arm contains a Gatling-type machine gun as a prosthesis. He is 209 cm tall (6"8) and weighs 132 kg (291 pounds). His race is mainly European. He is 52 years old, regardless of how he looks. A big veteran of 40 years of Crusher experience, he still has the heart of a boy.

Talos is portrayed by Kiyoshi Kobayashi,"A sexual and masculine roll. He feels like he's wrapping Joe warmly, and he's more like a guardian than a companion. This is the kind of role he plays."

Page 6 - Crusher Ricky

Born in Capricorn in 2146 AD, the planet of Rhodes. On Rhodes, he was a wandering child, and Joe and his friends helped him when he failed and was about to be killed by a gangster. He then stowaways aboard the Minerva and becomes a Crusher and the team's engineer. He is 140cm tall (4"5) and weighs 36 kg (79 pounds). His race is Albine (white/caucasian). He is 15 years old. After three years of Crusher history, he has finally come to be called a full fledged Crusher. He does not talk about his birth or parents, and his predecessor is unknown.

Ricky is portrayed by Noriko Ohara,"In contrast to Talos, Noriko is just like Ricky in that she is an agile, cute girl who is very active. She brights out the comical parts of Talos and Ricky's relationship and complements them on the screen."

Page 7 -

Costumes of Joe and Alfin driving the coastal road of Aramis after the case is resolved. This was designed by manga artist Keiko Takemiya. The staff and voice actors say that Alfin in this scene is very cute. Especially, it's a favorite scene of Run Sasaki. Also, the psychological depiction of Joe's facial expression is great. Unfortunately, in this scene, both of us do not get out of the car, so we cannot see the whole body.

Page 8 -
Using the spacecraft weapons and instruments you have built as if they were part of your body, communication and combat, Crushers destroy planets and floating space, improve space routes, remodel planets, rescue spacecraft, and explore stars. He is a space dweller whose livelihood is the transportation and search of dangerous goods and goods. Since 2150 AD, he is an elite of the universe who has advanced knowledge and ability such as blasting, and is equipped with appropriate equipment to carry out his work perfectly.

Page 9- Mature/Matua

A scientist who was an assistant to Dr. Barbos at the Institute of Gravity Physics at Obus University. She helped develop the new warp device, which allows for external warp control. However, the device is still unfinished and is captured by pirates trying to complete it. She was hit by Loki's assault in an attempt to stop the runaway pirate's warp device, but with the help of Joe, she was able to stop it. However···
Mature/Matua is portrayed by Reiko Muto,"I intend to cherish the atmosphere of femininity that Alfin has (while voice acting for Mature/Matua). She was a scientist, but she wasn't very good at saying things that were very difficult to say."

Page 10- Crusher Dan

Crushers are often thought of as a group of rogues due to the nature of their work, but the concept of Crushers has changed over the 40 years since their introduction. For that, the efforts of Crusher Dan, who was called the Crusher for the first time in history, are great. However, his efforts were qualitatively weeded out as the technology advanced. Crushers can do anything, but those who commit illegal acts will be subject to appropriate punishment by the Crusher Council, chaired by Dan.
Crusher Dan is portrayed by Akira Kume,"I did the role with the intention that he wasn't just cold to his son, but that he was fine in character. I was scared that my refreshing father role wasn't my style."

Page 11- Captain Kowlaski and Commander Bird
The Galactic Union was established in 2134 AD. It is an organization that protects the prosperity and security of all humankind without being biased toward the interests of one nation, and the unique space force possessed by the Galactic Union is called the Union Space Force. It is divided into a production unit and an information department. If there is a legitimate request, the production unit will immediately issue it and resolve the case, but usually it will be on patrol. The first section of the information department is mainly in charge of information analysis, and the second section of the information department is in charge of public security, specializing in espionage activities.
Bird is portrayed by by Osamu Kobayashi,"He's a man who is good at bargaining with a captain named Kowalski, who is a little nihilistic and reminiscent of a pirate. He's a role that I don't know if it's bad or good."

Kowalski is portrayed by Goro Naya,"When I saw Captain Kowalski by the character, I thought, "This is Zenigata, the police officer of Lupin III." In my case, the three elements are very similar, so there is no such thing as a serious part."

Page 12 - Mardola, Cordigier, & The Dirty Pair
The place where Joe and his friends are guided by Cordigier and come into contact with Mardola for the first time is the Ohno Outdoor Theater, and the movie on it is one of Takachiho's masterpieces, "Dirty Pair". Yuri and Kei, who are obsessed with Anacro soldiers, also show us the Bloody Card.
Lagol; A solar system nation consisting of the planet Minaus in the space of Aries and three satellites. It is possible to relocate, but it is not comfortable to live in. Crusher Kevin took command up to the degree of terraforming the planet to a Class 2. Because it is an emerging nation, it accepts immigrants and people indiscriminately, and is ideal as a hideout for criminals and inquirers. It's a bad place.
Mardora is portrayed by Hidekatsu Shibata,"My voice isn't very much on the side of justice, so I try to be as human as possible in the first half." Cordigier is portrayed by Koichi Chiba.

Page 13 - Big Murphy
Using Lagol's extraterritoriality, he had teamed up with Mardola, but at the same time as the new warp device became available, he tried to remove Mardola with an orbital missile attack, but was blocked by the Allied Space Force. He named his pet Azmadillo "Krupp" and is the boss of his beloved pirates.
Murphy is portrayed by Chikao Otsuka,"He's unlike the shape of a regular human being, though I thought that reality would come out of him by giving out the perfect mix of human and inhuman traits."

Page 14- Cats Eye Norma and Monster Loki

(Norma) is good at manuvering fighter planes, likes blood, and has no mercy on her enemies. A gang is formed with a single-seat iron craft to chase Joe, but she calls into a special tank that processes waste and melts. Norma is portrayed by Kazuko Yanaga,"It seems that she sounds like a villain without even doing any work on her voice. At first I portrayed her a little as a sexy older sister, but in the second half I was a sadistic, scary Aunt."

Monster Loki is a man who has only a physique and superhuman strength that outclasses humans. He is simple and not good at using his head. He is fooled by Mardola to play against Murphy, and he tries to take the position of Chief of the Murphy Pirates. He falls to the Galleon's machine. Loki is portrayed by Yoshio Nagahori," Only his body is the biggest, but I couldn't say what I wanted to say for him because his blood circulation to his head is bad."

Page 15 - Blue Beard Nero and Ice Heart Killie/Killy

Nero has the excellent ability to command aerial warfare, but has a strong sense of merit and wants to run through. He once captures Joe and Alfin in the forest of Minaus, but is torn apart and dies by the carnivorous monkey Rudra who lives in the forest.
Nero is portrayed by Takeshi Watabe,"Of the four pirates, he likes fighting the most and is short-circuited. He is a Japanese military commander who is like Nobunaga. The image I received when reading the original script was much more intense."

Killie/Killy is Big Murphy's right arm in wisdom among the Murphy Pirates. He is ruthless and brutal. At the end, he tries to prevent the Galleon from invading with his only powered suit, but he is crushed by the Galleon and ends in a spectacular fashion.

Killie/Killy is portrayed by Kazuyuki Sogabe,"He's not a bad guy, but there are some weak points and hysterical parts to his character, so I tried to approach it somehow."

Page 16 - Valenstinos and Others

2111 AD was a major turning point in the history of mankind and the universe. With the completion of the warp device, interstellar flight became possible, and space development that remained in the solar system changed its appearance. Human beings have advanced into other star systems one after another, and unlike the development in the solar system so far, they have deviated from the control of nations and large corporations, and have been filled with disorder and enthusiasm reminiscent of the former western reclamation. Eventually, pirates began to take root in various places, and pirates who were not tired of robbing spaceships carrying supplies and trying to become the lord of a country began to appear. Murphy Pirates is one such pirate.
Valenstinos is portrayed by by Nobuo Tanaka,"At first, I didn't really understand what this role was. A person who is sincere and loyal, and who is actually annoyed and reluctant to make mistakes or inconveniences."

Page 18 - Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's Interview

The film was made this time with a small number of people, but I think it was effective. When making a movie, it's actually very sinful to make it by gathering people together. This time, making it in this way is not a beautiful thing like maintaining a qualitative level, but for us its imperative to do so. It's not a small number of elite animators, so a small number of soldiers are doing it. The studio is like a a country that should be humbled, and I think it's useless if we don't do it in this way. It's possible, it's really true. Because this is the movie. In the future, if it wasn't possible, I'd have to do it from the beginning, so I think I'm sorry for the people in the original paintings who did it for me. This time, I'm putting out the restriction of painting with my touch. However, the work inside is the current animation. It's like a long-running battle where you find something you don't want to be content with and assert yourself. It seems that the people in the second original picture were confused until the very end. But I want you to find the answer yourself. As a director, I was also involved in the stages after drawing, but frankly, I was like a visitor, and when I looked at the work I put in, I realized that it was such a difficult task. I think it's okay to have Joe's second and subsequent works, but I can't make them, so if Sunrise makes it, I definitely want others to make it. For me, if I do one job, it will take two or three years. If I made another "Joe", I would be 37 or 8, which is a bit of a problem. There are other things I want to do with my life.
