Alright, let's dispel some misconceptions that you STILL have. All machine translators are EQUALLY shit. DeepL is usually seen as "better" because it mostly makes coherent English sentences. Grammatically correct =/= accurate translation. How would you even know which one is good? You can't compare to the Japanese text, because you don't understand it.

You want real advice? Instead of wasting your time doing "4 machine translations", just go learn Japanese.

cutegyaru honestly while all machine translators are flawed in my experience they are actually pretty good if you know how to use them and think about what they mean and don't just blindly follow them without thinking twice about it because most times they make total sense if you use your head

also i literally don't have time to learn japanese that would take years i simply don't have the time or patience for that i'm 24 now i have other things i want and need to do also nobody wants this filth is also not true it's just that people like you in this community are arrogant and expect everything posted here to have perfect grammar and be 100% perfectly translated even though english isn't even my mother language to begin with so instead of complaining and calling something i put multiple days of hard work and dedication in garbage let's see you learn japanese and translate doujinshi's for free as a hobby like me and even if you do know japanese that doesn't mean that you aren't an arrogant asshole

also i have been using photoshop for 4 years now but just recently started to learn how to clean text so i've been getting better gradually as you will see with the next couple of doujinshi's that i will translate and upload here i'm self taught and in my opinion which i don't give a fuck what you think about it i'm pretty good i can cut out most things pretty perfectly i know how to make fancy text etc.

honestly i don't mind criticism but this is just sad i can't even say that i made a few mistakes and i'd rather focus on translating more doujinshi's without getting shit on and disliked to hell i've never seen such an arrogant and entitled community in my life and i've been on the internet since like 2008 or maybe even earlier you people just want everything on a silver plate and any translation that isn't 100% accurate get's shit on by people who don't even try to translate on their own the only reason i even started to translate and i spent days translating is because so many works just stay untranslated and i don't have the money to commission all the works i want translated i would need to be a millionaire for that so i thought i would atleast try to translate some works to the best of my abilities but apparently that isn't good enough for you people honestly it's no suprise that so many other alternatives websites have been catching up over the years it's because you are all such entitled little children that won't be happy until everything is perfectly translated and people are starting to see that so they go to all these other websites honestly i won't stop just to spite you people also dislike me atleast that shows me i have some impact and even if you don't dislike this i will still see that as a win either way if i'm supposed to be the villain as to say i might as well try to annoy or even piss off as many as you assholes as i can

Regardless of what the others are saying, you're not making a good case for yourself:
The lack of punctuations and capitalization in your comments are a bit iffy.
You insulting others don't help your case in any way, even if they they themselves were bad actors in this case.

uploader, look, no one really cares how much time you took, how old you are, or your side of the story.
What they really care about is whether it is well translated or not.
That's the reason why they point out your own failings and gave you tips (on top of them egging you on).
No one cares if you apologize or not. It's the internet.
If what they say really bothers you then don't read the comments anymore. Go outside and "touch grass".

If you want to continue translating and not get dumped on, then put more effort and time into learning Japanese. Doesn't have to be tomorrow, a month, or even a year.
If you've got the passion, do it. If not, then stop.

Cutegyaru has already made the point that no matter what or how many MTLs you use, in the end, you don't have the context to translate it.
You can exactly see this in my example above: 魔術礼装 = Mystic Codes. You have limited knowledge of Fate so you failed to pick this up on the very first textbox of the very first page.
This alone shows you no matter how many MTLs you use, you can/will get a wrong translation. And a translation is more than just input to output.
It just so happens in this case it's more reliant on how well you know Fate.

MTLs have had a recent boom in this age - most likely due to the rise of popularity in anime in mainstream audiences.
If you look back on the uploads with the "rough grammar" tag you'll notice that there has been a rapid increase since 2019.
You'll find that for 2020-2022 this clocks in at 382 results of the 501 non-expunged galleries.
So, in roughly 2 years there has been a flood of "rough grammar" tagged galleries that make up 76% of the total "rough grammar" tagged galleries.
Some of these are just rough grammar, but before the introduction of the "rough translation" tag, it and the "rewrite" tag were a catch-all for poor translations. (They still kind of are even now.)

With this in mind you can see how some of the fluent English speaking community is fed up with the state of uploads.
There's the constant surprise of finding a doujin/manga you like being translated... only for it to be a MTL or poorly mishandled.
Now imagine having that done several times a month over a timespan of a few years and you have these comment sections.

Your work isnt hard work. My phone can do what you did for free in seconds. My phone camera can get a translation on par with this. Literally the only thing of value here would be actually getting the translation onto the pages and even that is done subpar.

If you actually care for this and are passionate, stop. Just stop, thats it. As was explained before, every single one of these you upload reduces the chance of a real translation ever seeing the light of day, which fucks the entire thing for everyone.

I even believe you, I do not think you are doing this outta malice or that you are some kinda elaborate troll. My goal isn't to come to your gallery to cause you a nervous breakdown or to insult you - it's to convince you to actually give a fuck. MTL sucks, and that's just an unfortunate reality. No amount of time or effort put into it will make it better.

Instead, I encourage you to learn Japanese, or, if you really like scanlation, to improve your editing and join a scanlation group that already has JP>EN translators.

MTL can be okay, if the person doing it has a grasp on the source material, the language they're translating to and the kinks of MTL. I'll take a well-edited MTL for fap material, let's not pretend h-doujins are holy texts or literary masterpieces that require a degree in Japanese, most of the time. Sure, proper translations are better and some will lament it being MTL because it totally won't ever get a proper translation after that, but most people won't really care, if it's good enough. This, however, is not. Lack of punctuation, spelling errors (to close, rather than too close etc.), very poorly constructed English sentences, words getting cut off without - to show it's one word in speech bubbles and completely random exclamations ("Yes don't stretch your shoulders good for-nothing") make this far from good enough. At least make it good enough outside of the translation itself and you'll get a lot less shit for it.

As someone who speaks multiple languages, I can confirm MTL isn't the root of all evil like some make it out to be. Still, you need to be familiar enough with the languages involved to know/suspect when the output is inaccurate. In this regard, Google Translate is superior to DeepL because you can see when it is struggling, if DeepL encounters problems it'll just give you back guesswork and pretend everything is fine. Japanese is also tough for MTL to deal with in general because it tends to rely heavily on context. It can be servicable if accuracy is not an issue because it's for insignificant personal use (like being curious about the Chinese comments on EH) or if you just need a memory aid but it really shouldn't be relied on to this extent.

I'll be putting this on my to-do list for a real translation but given that I'm currently on hiatus because I'm busy with other things and want to be better when I get back to translating instead of rusty, and my to-do list grows faster than I could ever hope to catch up to, I do hope someone will beat me to it.
