I always thought of the Eeveelutions as what you'd get if you mashed a cat and a dog together (except Espeon, which looks more like a cat than anything else to me...and Eevee, which is if you mashed a cat and a fox). "Mammal-ish quadrupeds."

Umbreon, however, has been my favorite since it debuted, so I'm not going to stress on the semantics here <3
