I absolutely could provide you with a million editing guides, but you're wasting your time translating a language you don't understand.

Machine translation unfortunately (still) sucks. It will, without hesitation, completely omit parts it can't parse, fail to understand context (and JP is very contextual), it will forego characters voices, literary devices, confuse words and expressions, and just straight up break down if it doesn't understand the input at all.

You mentioned using your "brain to make sense". To me, this just sounds like you tried rewording the output to make it legible, regardless if it was accurate or not. It's pure guesswork if you don't understand Japanese.

My advice: go learn Japanese. Also, it seems that English isn't your first language either.
