>Yes, that's right. This story is entirely machine translated.

Please don't do this.

The art is good, but personally I find the plot is a bit too silly. Plus, it ended before it could get really interesting.

If you don't understand Japanese, then don't translate. You and so many others get fooled into thinking MTL is good because DeepL gives you grammatically correct sentences. This fools you into thinking the output is accurate. It's not 90% of the time.

MTL will, without hesitation, completely omit parts it can't parse, fail to understand context (and JP is very contextual), it will forego characters voices, literary devices, confuse words and expressions, and just straight up break down if it doesn't understand the input at all.

You're just doing guesswork at this point. My advice: stop wasting your time and learn Japanese.

You've committed the most grievous sin here: admitting to utilizing machine translations. Seriously, it looks fine glancing through it, so I wouldn't even mention anything MTL-related in your next work.

It'd be one thing if you were just feeding things through DeepL or Google Translate and leaving it at that, or if you were sniping some other group covering newly released doujins. But it sounds like you were using MTL more as a research tool than anything else and the raws have been available for this one for over 2 years without any sign of another group picking it up.

I would recommend glancing through the grammar sections of a Genki 1 and 2 pdf, just to get a better idea of how sentence structure works. It'll speed up the process for you next time.

Thanks, Garbouw. I just wanted to be honest about what this really was so people wouldn't take my work as gospel. And like you said, because of its age, I didn't foresee anyone else bothering to ever properly translate this story. Something's better than nothing, right? At any rate, I'm glad someone appreciated it. I invested a good amount of time and effort into this, so it was getting kind of demoralizing watching the rating drop and the negative comments roll in...

While I understand the frustration, this is a fucked up reason to downvote something, especially when it seems a lot more coherent than most MTL, and no one's picking up the author's works.

mimicu, I'd suggest putting MTL in the title to avoid bs like this, or just keep working on your translation skills in the background. This isn't really the place for civil discussion and honesty.

Look, all in all, MTLs are despised for a good reason: they give the impression that anyone can translate some text written in a language they don't know. This is complete false: as was said, an algorithm is not able to grasp the context of a phrase, a human intelligence is still needed for that, fortunately. Remove that, and you have a text that seems plausible, but whose sense may or not be completely lost. The problem with MTLs is this: they give an illusion of a job well done, and with small effort. But it's just an illusion, and a mockery of the effort that is really needed for a good translation (years of learning and toiling).

@mimicu: I can understand your frustration, I know that editing images, typesetting and the like takes a lot of effort. But all in all, with an MTL, it's not worth it.

mimicu don't worry about it that's just how this community is if something is not up to their standards they will downvote it to hell my advise is to just ignore them and just keep translating works trust me just upload it then just don't look at the comments don't let this toxic community get into your head because no matter what you say and how well you try to explain your side to them they just won't listen i probably have a bad reputation in this community so this post will probably be downvoted to hell and they will make fun of me etc. but i don't care anymore i just wanted to try to help you take my advise or not it's up to you but i will stay away from this post after typing this comment because looking back will just piss me off

@scumbini
As long as it isn't copy paste and is comprendable.

I translated a couple artists with MTL that had zero translations, after doing so, one of them got consistent english translations.
