Maybe I'm in the minority here but it kind of irks me a little bit when I see these shut-ins and the way they treat their parents they freeload off of. Like it would kill them to show a little gratitude or at least halfass act like a normal person around the people feeding them and keeping the power on so they can sit in their room and live a life of no responsibility.

Some will likely retort that these neets have some sort of a mental illness that makes them this way, but then that only makes the situation even worse since someone is taking advantage of a retarded family member. I've even personally witnessed people who have the attitude of "I didn't ask to be born" as an excuse to act like a complete shitfuck, but that's a garbage ass argument too.

Yeah yeah I know it's just a fictional story, but obviously these are real behaviors since it seems to be such a prevalent theme in many stories. Just saying. The story was otherwise okay and it was nice that he finally found an excuse not to be a total loser in the end even if it meant putting a baby in his mother's belly and dragging her down to his level as a social outcast. So there's that, I guess.

I get where you are coming from, but here it seems like a case of bad communication. In the beginning, the MC says he has feelings of inferiority, and is resentful that his mom gave up on him when he became a shut-in. His mom also states after being caught, that she did this because she did not know how to talk to her son.

Where did the "dragging her down to his level as a social outcast" come from? It is not shown or told how his mom was treated after getting pregnant. The MC also stated that he was getting back into society.

@spartan10000 Yeah, I think they just wanted to rant about shut-ins in general. Obviously this is hentai, but in this example the mother "gave" him a reason to live. He now had the responsibility of the life he created. I think we can all agree that being a shut-in is not really living. Just putting yourself on pause as the world passes you by. I do believe there is a some form of mental illness for most of these people. Be it social anxiety and/or depression. Some of them might be autistic or whatever if they are bratty or feel entitled to that lifestyle. But, I can nearly guarantee that the "normal" ones are just cowards that are too afraid to commit suicide and wish their parent(s) would throw them out to die on the streets.

Several years ago, I was a shut in for about 2 years and I was that way. It's not fun and games, but a cycle of distractions and self-loathing. And all it takes is a bit of help or the slightest spark of hope to get someone moving in the right direction. And of course they need to put in the hard work of developing healthy habits to prevent relapse and polishing rusty life skills. Just be kind, but firm to people in the pits of deep depression is all I am saying. It's very easy to be mean and cause someone to double-down on "incorrect" thought. And rewarding or even ignoring someone in such a situation is enabling.
