What infuriates me the most, is the waste of potential.
I mean - chubby, clumsy, awkward teenage daughter of the world-famous insanely popular supermodel mom. The story practically writes itself.
You may even tack the bloody lesbian angle, if you want - start that as something that she routinely says in response to an increasingly frequent question "have you got a boyfriend yet?", and slowly develop it to the point when she suddenly realizes that her 'go away and fuck off' answer contains more truth than she herself is ready to accept - it's standard stuff, even I would be capable to bang something together from it. You can fit lego-blocks together only in so many ways, despite all the varieties of outcome, after all.

You'd need to actually apply tremendous amount of effort to fail so simple of a premise.

I Am Not Starfire is a comic book meant for young adults/kids, and is unique in that it is almost the length of a normal manga volume. However, it just so happens to be the perfect example on how to NOT write a comic story. Or any story format that is meant to preach some kind of morals, really.

The story is supposed to be about the life of Starfire's daughter, Mandy, and her struggles with being the daughter to the famous Starfire. However, the plot is a complete shit-show in that Mandy's design is clearly just the author's own self-insert, the character herself is completely unlikable at every turn, and has a completely stupid reason to suddenly accept herself finally gaining superpowers.

Mandy is a complete bitch to her mother, even though it is clearly presented that Starfire is trying her best to make Mandy happy and to plan for her future. But NOPE, she's just an utter bitch for the majority of the story. Complete with very superficial and utterly shallow inclusions such as having a lesbian love-interest, teenage angst, etc. She's not even Robin's (now Nightwing's) daughter. Apparently, in this comic Starfiire got together with some random guy and had Mandy as a result.

And for some reason, she keeps eating. A LOT. If you look through the actual pages, she always seems to have some kind of food with her.
