the art is beautiful, but I have no idea what's going on.

UPDATE: okay… I think I figured it out. the main character, Cornelia, is the wife of Julius Caesar (before he came to power), and the one who sent these soldiers – Marius – is his uncle. the events most likely take place at the time when Marius was engaged in a civil war with Sulla, both of whom were trying to eliminate their rivals in line for ascendancy. although, the daughter of Caesar and Cornelia wasn't even born until 76 BC, which puts the events of the comic somewhere around 66-60 BC, and Marius was dead by that point in time.
