I don't know why exactly it got canceled, but assumed it has something to do with author making some poor business decisions. When the third comic was released he took the first two down from sale shortly after and then repackaged all three as a bundle with no ability to buy the third one separately so anyone who already had the first two now had to pay extra to buy the other two again if they wanted the third. I always assumed doing that tanked a lot of his audience at the time.
