I get that the author wanted a source of conflict beyond just getting the Terrible Trio to accept friendship, but Celestia and Luna are so out of character here it's almost physically painful. Which is a shame, because I really, really enjoyed everything up to here.

Holy shit the writer REALLY wants to wrap this up.
The characterization took a nosedive. They can have them worried about the three without going straight up "let's fucking murder them", because barring the donut steels burning the hive this could've been a legit episode.
Shame.

Oh my God Celestia and Luna got so much worse so quickly. For the love of all that is good in this world I really hope that this is some sort of bizarre ruse where they're tricking Twilight into showing that she's genuine about caring for the reformed villains or something, because I'm really not enjoying watching something that was so good before dive head-first into a septic tank. That is also on fire.

Credit where it's due, the writer did bring it back after that abysmal characterization from before.
Good ending, even if it was a bit rushed. I can understand not wanting to commit to another 50 or so pages of them each going through their individual arcs.
