Curated images from the memorial and archive of legendary animator and doujinshi artist Ogata Satomi. The memorial Twitter account is run by his wife, who scans in and updates the page with rare, never before seen illustrations that Ogata left behind after his tragic passing. Ogata passed away in 2009 from a cerebral hemorrhage after complications at a dentists' appointment. His legacy lives on through his amazing, on model illustrations and attention to detail. Ogata was a cult icon of his day and still is revered by many, having had been taught by his mentor, the legendary mangaka and otaku organizer Hideo Azuma. Ogata was instrumental in several underground animation circles as well and is alleged to have animated on Cream Lemon, Pop Chaser, and an onslaught of early ero video works.
A huge swarth of Ogata's work has been archived on e-hentai and the web, but I wanted to further archive these illustrations and much, much more. This gallery contains scans of personal affects, such as Ogata's membership cards to the Urusei Yatsura fan club, of which he was a prominent and well respected member and organizer, to an early settei drafted in 1980 featuring his own and Hideo Azuma's characters, of which he intended to animate.
There is a lot of history to cover and hundreds more images on the Twitter, which is a treasure trove of information (Ogata's wife regularly responds to questions and comments and is happy others are still celebrating her husband years later), though I could not document it all for the sake of the fact that 1) some of the other images are already documented here in their respective doujins and 2) this gallery would be nearly endless.
Ogata may have animated more of his 'combine pictures', and the genga and douga he produced suggests as much, though its unlikely that these will ever be released to the public due to copyright issues and the nature of his work. We all miss and love Ogata out there, and I wanted to pay a small homage in helping the preservation efforts.
Images 1 - 5 are personal in recognizing Ogata's passing, some are a few personal words from himself at other times.
Images 6 - 13 are some of the earliest works by Ogata documented by his wife from 1980, which was from an original series he was aiming to produce based on his own work and the work of his mentor, Hideo Azuma. It looked very charming!
Images 14 - 16 are some of the earliest magazines Ogata's work had shown up in, all mainly run by his mentor Hideo Azuma. A personal drawing to Ogata by Hideo is included.
Images 17 - 19 are ero video works Ogata worked on with several other otaku, though his name credits are possibly under pseudonyms. His wife confirmed that he worked on these three in particular.
Images 20 - 22 are official illustrations credited and signed by Ogata for magazines such as Newtype, My Anime, etc. His Lum drawing is from the official Urusei Yatsura fan magazine, co-edited by Rumiko Takahashi, a fellow friend and pupil of Hideo Azuma's.
Images 23 - 60 are full color and inked illustrations by Ogata, ranging in years, though from the mid 1980s - the early 2000s.
Images 61 - 174 are assorted layouts, sketches, and raw works in progress for several hundred works by Ogata, ranging from the early 1980s until the early 2000s.
Images 175 - 182 are very early documents detailing where Ogata's doujins would show up. Some are advertisements, some are mentions among fan circles about his projects and collaborations. MAC is one of the earliest non-NSFW zines he ever participated in. A forum is present to participate in an ero-themed comics project and the front page of a settei book he used for Lupin the 3rd works.
Images 183 - 201 are very intimate, sometimes personal illustrations by Ogata of The Star of La Seine, one of his personal favorites. He created well over 100+ drawings of this character over the years he was active/alive.
Images 202 - 207 are examples of raw materials surrounding Ogata's opus, his work for Urusei Yatsura themed doujin. In my opinion, he is one of the most prolific when it came to the series and all of the works he produced for it.
Images 208 - 249 are the raw douga and genga Ogata made for his seminal, if not legendary, 'Combine Pictures' series, in which he shows off his skills as an animator to make uncanny works. It is speculated that some of these scenes were animated by Ogata, though this cannot be physically confirmed.
Images 250 - 271 are all of Ogata's personal affects, such as his membership cards to the Urusei Yatsura fan club, illustrations he produced for several Urusei Yatsura fan club zines and materials, and additional, personal sketches he made for himself.
227 (Ami) and 228 (Rie) are supposed to be the initial design works made by Ogata-sensei for Cream Lemon. I have seen the same designs on an official artbook so it must be true.
Nevertheless they were not approved and the final result differs a lot.

The gallery was removed, can you upload it or link a new gallery? He did work on Cream Lemon and a few other series, so I have confirmed, but thank you for further confirming!
