It's not really death, at least in this case, though not necessarily better. For some people, actual snuff is far more appealing than the primarily sexual aspects of most porn. Based on a few discussions I've had with people with such fetishes, I'd assume that it's vaguely related to sadism/masochism and especially control, with taking another person's life being seen as the ultimate exercise of control. It's quite complex and often not possible to understand because people are just wired in different ways, I guess. I can understand it to a certain degree in terms of reason, I can understand why others have various fetishes to a certain degree if they explain it, but the appeal itself of most fetishes is lost on me. But that's just the conscious level, most people with fetishes can't say where it came from themselves.
