Have to admit it's *really* funny seeing someone on the site you have to intentionally get into specifically to see all the extreme content the main branch doesn't host jumping on their high horse when they see something they don't like. Remove the various fetishes that aren't okay in real life and you'd have like, a third of the site left at best.

Also, the Jaws Effect has been debunked time and time again, especially in that specific instance. Prejudice against sharks existed before Jaws, and the major years of shark depopulation were also before the movie released -- the movie didn't create a trend, it highlighted an already existing one. The over-hunting of sharks also wasn't being done by randos who sometimes went to a beach, it was being done by the commercial fishing industry anyway. If anything, I'd bet a bit that Jaws ended up being a net benefit for helping bring attention to the issue that otherwise people would never think about.
