Don’t quite understand the expunge reasoning. Isn’t a combined/complete gallery a good thing? Why would the complete gallery be the one expunged for duplicate and not the single chapters? Does that imply I could split up every complete gallery into its individual parts and expunge the complete gallery? Or is it a calling dips thing, where what comes first complete or individual chapters is treated favorably?

I agree. For me also combined galleries are often better. But i think it was decided to stop random combination as galleries since many people just uploaded the same stuff with different combination.
