Well, unfortunately i'm not a native english speaker and i did this for a very low price in two days so I think it's good enough.

If my group ever gets to the point of taking new doujins on, this will be the first doujin we'll redo just to do a Ment doujin justice.

Edit: Yeah, this is definitely some bad scanlating and could definitely use rewording. I'm sorry, but people who aren't native English speakers shouldn't be translating things into English unless it's been reviewed and edit by a native English speaker. It's even worse when you types of guys set up a commission business. Your skills doesn't even validate you working for commission (I hope each page was worth a penny). These are the scam artists we in the English speaking community have to deal with today. Now go back and think what you did, and take 5-7 years learning proper English before you do solo commissions again. At least some of us do this shit for free because we actually enjoy scanlating from the bottom of our heart. I mean, just take a look at my latest upload.

I don't quite understand, are you saying that only those who can scanlate stuff are native english speakers or at the very least a group of mostly native english speakers (to proofread and such)?
That's some arrogant attitude towards other people who are just trying to do their best, or at the very least just trying to share what they like to others. Are you trying to gatekeep the online doujin scanlation world? Because that's definitely a horrible attitude to have. In order to translate, does every translator have to present some sort of english competency certificate, just so that their work could be seen for free?

Different people may have different standards for their work. Your group may translate stuff really well and you do it not because you want to get paid, but because you enjoy it. That's a valid thing to do. But that doesn't mean everyone must live up to your standards, no? There are only 1 thing I prioritize in translations, and that is speed. In my opinion, as long as it's eligible it's fine. I do acknowledge that my english isn't the best, I just don't see putting someone down just because they are bad at something then gatekeeping them is the best way to go about with it.

Or is it the "commission" part that made you annoyed? Let's break that down too then, this particular doujinshi is something that I done as a personal favor from someone I know. That person said he want to read it, so I translate it. So yes, I do indeed earn pennies per page. The commission page is just an inside joke among us as it was technically a "commission". Even if it wasn't a personal favor, I do still think that commisioning someone to translate regardless of their skill isn't wrong at all. There's only one contributing factor, and that's how much someone is willing to pay. You calling me a scam artist is a bit funny because if there's someone as good and as reputable as your group (or groups that accept commissions), with dedicated translators, redrawers, cleaners and proofreaders at the same price and speed, why would someone like me get the job? It's not like my portofolio are a secret or anything.

So yes, I have taken my time and think about stuff you said. I am thankful for your comment, and I apologize if my bad english somehow offends you. But I think I'll just stick to what I am doing rn. Acceptable translations quality in a reasonable timeframe and price. I would be happy if you could redo the translations and translate other stuff sooner. I mean, it's not like I particularly enjoy translating stuff or anything, it's just no one is translating and someone wants to read so rather than waiting I might as well do it myself.

@senzensen, my problem is the amount of non-English scanlators trying to translate stuff into English, especially when they're going mess it up because they don't have the true nuances to localize their translations or the typesetting is incomplete. I would hook up with a native English speaker so you don't get chewed out next time. I'm not trying to stop you, but when someone foreign to English says they're doing commission work to translate to English, it seems like a scam is happening. It's more or less the amount of people popping up nowadays that are foreign to English dishing out stuff like yours then the usual better established English scanlators. Good luck to your endeavors. I will say it's at least better than people using pure MTL and really shitty photoshopping.

Just a reminder: If you can't proofread your script, you can look for a proofreader... Yep, it's as simple as this. How to look for a proofreader? Well, Eh has a forum so you could have try your luck there... and this is just an example... But I guess it would have take some "time"... Considering that you said that you prioritize "speed", it's no wonder that the result is this bad...
Some people have the decency of respecting the product they are working with and, as such, they will take their time in order to properly translate & edit everything. But, once again, this takes "time" and "efforts"...

Now just a little question: Why did you bother uploading this if "it was for someone you know"?
You could have given it directly to him/her while, hopefully, warning him/her that there would be some potential mistakes there and here...

I understand what you meant, but unfortunately I just simply don't have the time to search for a proofreader then making revisions after I finished translating. As I said before, the reasons why I am translating in the first place, is because I wanted to read a particular doujin but nobody is translating it. I don't know how long I must wait until someone decided to pick up that particular doujin, so I decided might as well do it myself. It's ultimately a time I choose to waste in midst of my own busy schedule, and if possible I don't want to waste more time than necessary.

If you think the results are bad, that's a valid. But in my opinion, no translation is worse than bad translation. Look I don't know much about the culture here, but personally I would prefer a bad translation, that way I can at least understand what's going on rather than stuff remaining untranslated for quite some time. Looking at how much negative scores I got, I suppose this kind of thinking is unpopular here? But I just simply unwilling to put more time when I can use that time to work on other stuff. I mean, cleaning text heavy panels outside of text boxes took time.

Now for your question, the reason why I uploaded here is because I assumed that people would want to read stuff translated even if the quality of translations isn't the best. Like I said, Bad translations are better than nothing. Of course you could say that bad translations could reduce the possibility of groups picking up the doujin because they saw that it had been translated by someone else. But if a doujin was truly great, I am sure someone else will create a better translation. For example, @B4z73rd said that their group will redo it if they are taking on a new doujins. That's a good thing for you who wanted to read a properly translated one, but for those who don't really mind bad grammar, they can just read mine now and wait for a proper translations later.

If it makes any difference, I will tag any future release (if I release any) with rough grammar so people can know what they're getting into.

"This is a commissioned work."

Whomever commissioned it deserves a refund. Only sticklers care if a free translation is bad, but you're not being *paid* to be so thoroughly incompetent.

This sounds like a good compromise to me. People who can't bear rough grammar will be able to filter it out, and those that aren't can enjoy getting *a* translation rather than none.

I'm a bit lost here - you ARE the translator, right? That is to say, you can read Japanese? If that's the case, if you 'wanted to read a particular doujin', why don't you just read it in Japanese? Am I missing something here? Or is this a double whammy of not being competent of both the languages you are translating from and to? Please tell me I'm just missing something.
