While Heroes 3 is the by far the best Heroes game, I feel heroes 4 gets too bad a rap. Don't get me wrong, between the brain-dead AI, the small amount of unit choices, the maps somehow feeling too small and yet too large at the same time, it does deserve a lot of the bad press it gets. Yet little things like the caravan system and the fact that it tries to give the centre stage to the 'Heroes' of Heroes of Might And Magic- well, I just can't bring myself to actually hate it, especially considering the resource problems 3DO was going through at the time. It's like a mentally disabled sibling whom you love very much studying hard and getting a D in their exam- sure, they did badly, but hell, they tried their best and they're so proud of what they've done, you can't help but feel a little touched, maybe even a little inspired, by the effort.
