A good author won't bother to try to give the instigator any sort of moral justification and will just embrace that they're an evil person doing evil things and getting away with it. A bad author like wasu, on the other hand, will go "Oh, the female protag is a bitchy straw feminist with no regard for human life, so it's actually maybe kinda okay if he mind-breaks and rapes her?" No, fuck off with that bullshit. Just make her a good, competent officer who treats her soldiers fairly, and let the rapist be a completely selfish asshole who just wants power and control.
