It's not that I dislike AI generated art, it's that AI generated art almost always seems to badly fuck up hands and feet, and I really can't see past those kinds of details.

It is. And I find artists that draw hands and feet particularly poorly just as hard to forgive. That said, there aren't many human artists I've seen draw hands and feet as poorly as the typical AI art.

I get that a certain amount of time and effort goes into getting the AI to make it exactly how you want it, but that's just it, it's not something YOU really made. It's something you commissioned an AI to do for you. An AI that has no uniqueness of it's own in it's art style aside from fucking up hands and feet, because it just copies actual peoples' art styles that took them years to develop and perfect.

The soulless nature of AI generated artwork, and it's copy paste essence is why I can't really bring myself to support it and those who use it for profit. No matter how good it looks, it's just a lame imitation.

It CAN simply copy someone's art style, or it can copy elements of certain artstyles in the same way artists pull references or even compositing artists copy paste 2d or 3d visuals into their blockouts to guide their forms. I remember seeing a mid-sized artist in terms of popularity who showed her workflow and how she blocked out her scenes and lighting in blender, and colored over the characters and models like she was manually creating an image filter in her style.

I'm not sure where the threshold is in determining who's a real 'artist' and deserves to be supported, and who's just a soulless tracer/thief. I imagine in the end, it's the results that matter, I can spend 16 hours total on a drawing but if it's shit and no one likes it, it is what it is. And I imagine sooner than later we'll start to see the difference between 'good' ai art and 'bad'.
