This is not a proper translation. This is MTL of a Spanish translation, which was apparently also MTL. I know some Spanish, but not enough to ensure the translation is perfect. I am, however, a writer by hobby, and an editor by necessity. As such I can guarantee readable text with some attempt at typesetting, and a story that makes sense to read, even if the translation has no prayer of being correct due to the imperfect nature of machine translation. There is no English translation available for this work, so if you decide to downvote purely on hatred of MTL and rewrites, please don't bother commenting. So, I went to check the Spanish translation that you used as base, funny enough, that translation is a MTL from the original Japanese to English then they translated that into Spanish, you can even see the "disclaimer" in the credits page and the original uploader comment, but since you can't read Spanish...
You basically MTL a translation that was MTL in the first place.

@Chen Nyan Not sure what you expected here. I put it right on the tin in bright bold letters this is MTL, and specified it was a rewrite. You don't have to like it, but complaining here is like going to Ball Park's website and yelling about how they don't make T-bone steak.

@Chunga What I find fascinating is that that translation had a rating of well over 4, and no one bitching in Spanish in the comments about how it was MTL. It's not even listed as a rewrite, but no one minded. The level of entitlement is astounding in English speakers apparently.

Okay, if you are I am going to say this in the nicest way possible. MTL and rewrites are shit.

Why? Because they are lazy. Lazy because it allows someone with no knowledge, no skill, and no intention to do better, to do a job, do it badly, and act like they know what they are doing.

Using your own analogy, posting MTL and rewrites is going to a ball park, and selling hot dogs that end up getting 30,000 people salmonella. Stretching that out even further, when informed the food got people sick, and the operator respond with, "well I sold over one million hot dogs here only less than a third got sick, also someone else use the same process that gets people sick and no one complained. You are just being entitled."

It is not entitlement to expect someone to do a job well, especially when they post in a place that the public has access to said work.

@spartan10000 An imperfect translation is being offered to those who might be interested. There is no alternative right now. I'd love it if someone would translate this work correctly, but no one has tried, so i did what I could. If that bothers you, feel free to ignore what is offered. No one is forcing the hot dog down your throat, you can continue to wait for that steak for however long it might take for it to magically appear.

The art is good and Katarina is easily recognizable. The plot is very simple and standard which is why this rewrite doesn't seem like an obvious misrepresentation of the artist's original intent.

@Samuelnos I appreciate your intentions but I think you took them too far. Your target audience is non-existent since even those that would search for Katarina and settle for a MTL would be almost as disappointed to find an MTL as no english translation at all. Most importantly you didn't give this doujin enough time to get a proper translation or reach out to others to try and get a proper translation started.

Next time if you are so passionate about getting a translation done, reach out to translators first, start a forum thread gathering interest for the doujins translation, you might even get the attention of enough bilingual readers that you could hash out a crowd source translation in the forum replies. You could also text clean the raws giving a real translator a blank canvas to work with and offer to typeset a proper translation.

Moral of the story, don't try to shoulder the whole burden on your own. At least give others the opportunity to help. The reason you are getting so much hate isn't that your rewrite isn't that bad, it's that you machine translated a Spanish translation of a Japanese doujin that the previous translator machine translated from Japanese into broken english to get the gist of and then proceeded to machine translate into Spanish with their own rewrites and edits included. The level of telephone this has gone through use really cringe and even after two translations the sound effects still aren't in English. Just find help next time so you can create something you and everyone else can be proud of.
