Don't read this, I'm just typing this out for fun while PNGGauntlet run on the gallery.
The day I translated my first work (not the ryujo book, that one was transplanted) was the day I felt the most liberated since passing my university entrance exam. No longer do I have to subject myself to the whims of other translators, for I can create my own stuff now. The powers at my fingertips, the strength of my imagination, all work in tandem to produce something I can use for myself. That book over there? You can clean it. That CG set in the distance? You can translate it. Those Takurou books where the best part is the cover/fullbody shots of girls because he draw unredeemably ugly MCs? You can isolate, clean and redraw it into a standalone panel. The potential is limited only by my motivation and my time. If I see something I want translated, I don't have to pay any money, but merely point my finger over it, and poof, English, or better yet, Textless version of a work before me. At one point it was no longer about the product, but the process itself, I would wake up every morning, giddy that I'd get some free time to translate in the night, how would I word that, how would envision this redraw... and finally sink some 4-6 hours on the computer, chipping away at the works until I finish, then I package it up and ship it off before going to sleep. The following week is arguably the second/third best part of the process, where I relentlessly egosearch my upload to see what people say about my release. Strange how my work stands in that weird valley of mediocrity where it's good and basically compentent enough to not cause drama or draw criticism (i want it, give me some) but not quite enough that it would draw widespread acclaim the same way other profilic groups do, but I guess that's just how it is. I do would like to become someone like Necromancr or LearnJPwithH where I can basically do quality shit of my preference by myself and pump it out on a frequent basis, maybe make some money on the side, but I guess that's still a little ways from where I am right now. What do I lack? Is my prose stiff? Did I get the translation right? Have I managed to get those difficult, non-grammar-conforming schizophrenic lines right? Are the lines I spent so much time mulling about good, authentic translations or are they fanciful fanfiction thought up in a fever dream? Are my redraws noticable? Did I leave a spot? Did I fuck up some screentone somewhere? What about patterns? That strand of hair I forgot to draw back in? Did I make any careless spelling or grammar mistake when burning the midnight oil? Is my font choice repetitive? Is spamming CCComicCrazy not good? Should I switch up fonts compulsively like those scanslator groups, a font for each character, each emotion, each state of physical being? Do I have to delve deep into typesetting to make a quality work? How many font is enough? How many font can my Photoshop conceivably display before it gives up and brick itself? Are my font shapings boring? Is rotating, skewing and arcing them around not enough? Should I have spent more time and effort sizing and assemble letters like legos to make a perfect SFX bubble like all those official English translations I admired so much, within the constraints the artist have put out in their original work in the form of handdrawn heartmarks? Was doing all the SFX worth my time? Should I have put the time towards other stuff? Will readers get what this mean or what the characters are doing through my SFX? Will some guy suddenly come out with an obvious mistake that I managed to miss and extrapolate that to my lack of skill? Will nobody come out to say anything as my work fade into obscurity right away under the flood of constantly-reuploaded imageset galleries? Will I get sniped two pages before completion? Will my work get deleted by Jewcob as I unknowningly grabbed some mythical copyrighted material that still existed on this place? Will I get banned for some obsure rules I broke out of ignorance? Are people angry with me for always having to adjust my Japanese title, gallery language and tag my shit every time I upload?
Will I ever cure my egosearching addiction? When will the cops bust me for 160gb worth of Loli materials? Question for the ages, gnawling at the back of my mind every night, perhaps I will never know the answer to some of them.

Yknow every time I upload a gallery it's like this, bam, errors out the ass, embarassing ones, too, how did I miss the main character's name for like half the gallery? How did only like two comments talked about it? Surely people aren't keeping mum to help me save face, right? Maybe every one just got a terminal case of vertebrobasilar circulatory disorder while reading this, right? Yeah, let's go with that, I can't live with myself otherwise. It's not every day (month [year]) that I get to do something that I like and is also very high-profile, getting to claim it for myself and see it pop like a very big corn kernel is a very pleasing feeling indeed, but fucking up on this critical piece makes it sting that much more, like that time I stuck my toes into a fan and got my big toe nail torn right off, grew back in a month and do everything a toenail is supposed to do, but it looks disfigured every time I look at it, never to be the same again. Perhaps I shouldn have looked closely in the first place, or never looked back at all after, unfortunately I am ego incarnate, so the joy (and relief) when I push a release out far outweighs the potential abstract embarassment I will get should something go wrong, so I always leaped before I looked, and going solo without a QC on call doesn't help things either. It's not like I'm obsessed with keeping shit to myself, I'd love to have a QC or a group, but working alone gives me that sense of freedom only matched by going skydiving (with a parachute) and a timetable as lax as that of a first-class slacker phoning it in on his last year of uni. Either way, I imagine it would be difficult to have a QC who has tastes as diverse as mine. I would ask around on /h/ but every other thread is some permutation of NTR, artist, some fetish or some terminal faggot who just had to post his shit into a thread he keeps alive for weeks on end. Well, that's fine in itself, but you'd think out of the entire 10 pages there would be at least, like a single thread about scanlation the same way /a/ occasionally gets one, but I guess not. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's just easier to work alone, paradoxically, since I know what I like, I know what I'm capable of, and I'm always available for myself, I work for myself for free, and I certainly don't complain or talk shit behind my back, not that I experienced it myself, since I'd rather die than to DM someone on discord, but I felt like that'd be a very real thing that could happen every time I so much as touch the enter button, so I remain by myself, the closest thing to community interaction I have is either through this Uploader Comment or with some other guys in /h/ translation threads. Is this autism?
Aaaaand PNGGauntlet saves the day, again. As for the settings, I just use default settings, and run them on monochrome images since they get shaved the most (~50% vs ~15% of coloreds).
