nobody died on Houkago no Pleiades, from Subaru co., Minato and the alien boy. History was back to the correct version of themself, as both Subaru and Aoi shouldn't in the same school, but later they'll in touch again and meet the others. Minato from what I remember still in hospital, but not dead.

According to him, the guro was because he was essentially held hostage by a really rich dude that commissioned him repeatedly. Once he got the reputation of being a guro artist that guy became his only source of income, and it was years until he was able to just tell the dude to fuck off. Guro was just a phase he was forced into because he was trying to make a living off of drawing porn.
Again this is his words, could all be lies.
