I'm a bit late to notice this but the cover is a bit telling. I just now came to realize that the cover has the "nice" girl paired up with the asshole acting like a brainless thot while the gyaru is wearing her school uniform with the MC looking at her. In the story the MC's crush is academically speaking actually pretty dumb, and in that sense not a good match for the MC; while it is implied the gyaru is actually doing academically well, and in that sense more a match for the MC.
