Honestly, I started getting confused with the "mother" logistics as described on page 5 (https://e-hentai.org/s/63ea6fc40c/2780300-5) compared to what happened in chapter 2: Yoriko's mother died in a suburban house fire - not sure where the temple comes in. Mio's mother was the one touched by corruption, not Yoriko's, so it would make more sense that Mio is corrupted because of her own mother. I don't even know if Mio's mother is still alive at this point - did she die in that temple? Unfortunately, in Japanese, it just kept saying "okaa-san", so I got lost...
It's simple enough, the house was built upon a cursed spot where a lot of people were killed and deified. Yoriko's mom was corrupted too but died in the house. The corruption then went to the last living corrupted person alive, Mio's mother, taking all the accumulated corruption with it. Yoriko's mom basically got piggybacked from Mio's mom to Mio via the corruption and that's why she's still here. Probably related to Yoriko's powers and maybe it runs in the family.
