Most of them are actual folklore! Well, adapted to fit a porn manga, but still based on proper yokai or urban legends. The Yamanoke, the monster in this story, was actually featured in Otherside Picnic.

There’s an Australian cryptid called Yara-ma-yha-who that does something similar. They wait in trees, drop down on a person and suck their blood while swallowing them whole. Then it regurgitates them after some time and re-swallows them over and over again until the person has been fully transformed into a new Yara.

Because apparently the continent’s actual wildlife wasn’t scary enough I guess.
