In regard to "Damage to Astolfo's reputation" I can't help but recall his origins in the Matter of France.

One in particular of Astolfo's original stories is when a visitor from another land, Giocondo, came to stay. The man was despondent, and try as he might Astolfo couldn't pry what had caused him to be so miserable from him.
Giocondo's woes stemmed from his beloved wife cheating on him. Funnily enough, he recovered when he happened upon Astolfo's Queen in bed with a dwarf.
From this, he realized that his wife didn't hate him or anything, no, it was just in her nature to sleep around, same as it was with Astolfo's wife. He made a complete recovery emotionally from this revelation.
Astolfo noticed his guest had regained his spirit and asked what had happened, Giocondo promised to tell him, but only if Astolfo in turn promised not to do anything violent once he knew.
More curious than ever he agreed and, true to his word in turn, Giocondo showed Astolfo what had caused his recovery, namely Astolfo's wife cheating on him with a dwarf.

Naturally, Astolfo was pissed. But he'd sworn not to do anything to them for the adultery, and so instead he and Giocondo agreed to do the only rational thing available to both of them.
They set out on a tour through Europe, fucking as many other men's wives as they could possibly get their hands on.
I think they'd passed a thousand when they stop off at a random Spanish Inn and become infatuated with the Innkeeper's daughter, who fucks both of them in sequence every night for the time they are staying, and comes along with them to vacation for a time.

All is well until she happens to meet a handsome boy in town one day, and falls for his charms for one reason or another. He wants to be with her, but she feels like she can't because Astolfo is a king.
So.
Doing the only rational thing available to her.
She invites him to sneak up to their room that night, AFTER she has fucked Astolfo and Giocondo unconscious, so that she can fuck him too.
You might think this would wake one or the other up, and it does, but both just assume the other is the one fucking her and roll over back to sleep, while she fucks her new boytoy all night long. Literally.

Come the morning they each complain to one another about the noise, and realizing it makes no sense that they were both keeping each other up they decide to confront her about what happened.
She tearfully confesses, but instead of getting angry the two laugh, and laugh, and laugh. If the both of them couldn't satisfy one woman, and if in all the lands they'd visited and all the women they'd fucked they couldn't find one that would turn them down, their wives MUST be blameless for their behavior, and all of this has been a silly waste of time. They bless the marriage of the two, leave to return home, and never again complained about their wives' behavior.
Even in the story this story appears, it's taken as a bit silly and, at best, anecdotal evidence that someone is throwing around to cheer someone else up. But the point is:

Astolfo's historical precedent fucked at least 500 wives himself, and then went home and never really thought much of the consequences. So Ankoman is really just keeping the spirit alive for him. If anything, the only inaccuracy is that it's not the female servants putting him and every other handsome servant to sleep from exhaustion.
