They get fast in their work, Sakimichan takes 3 to 5 hours for a finished job, they work every day, it's no different from an ordinary job.

In the past years, there have been both interviews as well as videos on youtube showing artists at work.
They work quickly using video drawing tablets. These are drawing tablets with a video screen on the drawing surface.
They know their tools and are very fast.

Over a decade ago, Masamune Shirow gave an interview of which part of the printed version was published as an extra item on BoxTorrents in one of the torrents (now since replaced). In it, he said that going to 3D painting tools allowed him to re-use poses, and basic body parts with different faces and characters. It sped up his work especially since editors and publishers would request that he re-do or tweak certain parts of his illustrations. He said that he didn't want to waste time re-drawing or reversing changes, so he went to 3D with 3D objects such as characters, objects, backgrounds all being independently removable and editable.
